Holiday Updos: Wavy Chingon, Braided Coil & French Twist

Holiday updos are a great way to make your hair look elegant for seasonal social events, which tend to be more formal than those which occur other times of the year. Some wonderful holiday updos include the wavy chignon, the French twist, the braided coil and the messy bun.
Wavy Chingon Holiday Updo for Curly Hair
To create a wavy chignon, first curl your hair with a hot iron to create long, loose waves (if your hair is naturally curly, of course, you can skip this step). Gather the hair into a loose high ponytail and then wind it into a bun, placing the curls on the outside so that they are visible.
A messy bun is similar to the wavy chignon but it doesn't matter if your hair is straight or wavy; pieces of hair are intentionally left out of the bun to hang in wisps around the face.
Braided Coil Holiday Updo
A braided coil is one of the holiday updos that works best on very long hair. Hair is first braided into one long braid in the back and then pinned in a circle on the top of the head.
This is a retro look that is once again very popular, and if your hair is long enough to do it successfully, you will stand out among the holiday updos. If your own hair is not quite long enough, there are inexpensive braided coil hair pieces you can purchase to add to your own hair.
Linday Lohan's French Twist Holiday Updo
A French Twist style is great with added hair accessories and can provide a soft-flirty look. This picture shows a lovely version of traditional French Twist updo by celebrity Lindsay Lohan.
A French twist is very difficult to do on one's own hair, so have a hairstylist create this kind of holiday updo for best results.
